Registration

How do I Register?

Registration is available online at https://runsignup.com/bhm262. Alternatively, you can contact us, and we will be happy to mail a form to you. We do not accept phone or email entries.

Registration Confirmation- How do I know if I am registered?

You can confirm your registration by signing into your Run Signup account and viewing your current registrations. Please Note: Final confirmation/information will be emailed to participants within 2 weeks before the event.

What do I do if I cannot participate once I have registered?

All registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. Once we receive and accept your entry, you will not receive a refund. If you cannot participate, you may not give or sell your number to anyone else and entry fees will not be transferred from year to year. Your registration fee will be converted to a donation to Magic Moments and Children’s of Alabama.

Can I switch from the full marathon to half marathon after I have registered or vice-versa?

Registrations cannot be transferred between the full and half marathons.

What if I did not receive a confirmation sheet?

You will be able to pick up your packet by presenting a valid photo I.D.

What do I receive with my registration?

Each registered participant and finisher of the marathon, half marathon, and relay will receive the following:

  • Race number, official timing device, technical T-shirt and swag bag to be picked up at the Expo.
  • Water, Sports Drink & Sports Gel along the course
  • Refreshments and water at the start and finish lines
  • Finisher’s medal when you cross the finish line
  • Entry to After Party featuring a concert, a meal from Jim ‘N Nick’s Community Bar-B-Q, kid’s zone, and more
  • *FUN RUN PARTICIPANTS receive t-shirt and a ticket to the after party

How do I purchase additional After Party tickets?

Runners receive one complimentary After Party ticket with race registration.

At the time of registration, additional After Party tickets may be purchased at the discounted rate of $18 per ticket. This discount is only available at the time of race registration. After Party tickets are $25 each and can be purchased until Saturday, April 13, 2019. After Party tickets will be available day of for $30 at the door.  Children 8 and under do not need a ticket to attend the After Party.

Packet Pick Up

Can someone else pick up my race material?

Race material may be picked up by someone else if they have a copy of a current, valid photo I.D. of the race participant they are picking up for. Race materials will not be mailed. FUN RUN PARTICIPANTS DO NOT NEED TO PICK UP RACE MATERIAL AT THE EXPO. T-shirt for fun run participants can be picked up day of race at 9:15 a.m.

Can I pick up my packet on Race Day?

No. All packets must be picked up at the Expo on Saturday, April 13th.

General

Will the event be cancelled in inclement weather?

We will follow standard outdoor sporting event protocol to ensure safety of runners and volunteers. If the event hasn’t started by 7:30 a.m., the event will be canceled. Your registration fee will be converted to a donation to Magic Moments and Children’s of Alabama.

Is the course walker friendly?

The courses are walker friendly. We just ask that all participants train in an effort to complete the course within the course time limit. The cutoff time is 6 hours. Any remaining runners will be transported to finish line after the cutoff times.

Are bikes, rollerblades, or baby joggers allowed on the course?

No dogs, in-line skates, baby joggers, skateboards, or bikes will be allowed on any part of the course, with the exception of the one mile fun run where baby joggers are allowed. This is for everyone’s safety!

Is this event a Boston Marathon qualifying course?

BHM26.2 features a certified course and is a “qualifier” for the Boston Marathon.

Is there a course time limit?

Yes. The time limit is six hours for the marathon/half marathon course. Fun Run time limit is one hour.

How does the relay work?

A team must have a minimum of five runners. There are 5 legs of the relay making up the full marathon. Leg distances to be announced.

Is there a limit to the number of participants?

Yes. The full marathon is capped at 1,000 runners. The half marathon is capped at 3,000 runners. Relay teams are capped at 500 teams. The Fun Run does not have a limit on a number of runners.

Is a military discount available?

Yes. Email [email protected] with a photo of your military ID for a 15% discount.

Is BHM 26.2 a wheelchair event?

Yes. The wheelchair event will start 3 minutes prior to marathon start.

Where are medical stations located?

Medical stations will be located at the Finish Line, on Valley Avenue, and in Avondale. Each water station will have a first aid kit for minor issues.

Where are water stations located?

Water stations will be located approximately every two miles.

Where can runners store their belongings while running?

A bag check will be located at the pavilion at Railroad Park. All items must be stored in a clear bag to be accepted at bag check.

What if I lost a personal item at the Start of Finish Line?

Lost items that were found and turned in will be returned to the Magic Moments office after the event. Please allow 1-2 weeks for transit time and inventory. Email [email protected] to request your lost item.

Results and Awards

If I win an award, can I pick it up on race day?

All award certificates will be handed out to the top three finishers in each category during the awards presentation at the After Party. The prize money associated with your award will be mailed the following week.

How are cash prizes awarded?

Cash prizes will be awarded by gun time finishes. All other awards will leverage chip times for winners.

What are the cash prize amounts?

What if my results are missing or inaccurate?

Please submit a results correction request and our timing company will look into your claim. Submissions will be accepted for five days after the event and updated results will be posted within seven days.

Fundraising

Do all event proceeds go to Magic Moments and Children’s of Alabama?

100% of registration fees benefit Magic Moments and Children’s of Alabama.
